Little SIS Sync Agent installation requirements

Recommendations for installation device/location

Little SIS Sync uses web technologies (apps built using HTML, CSS, JS), but runs them as local, platform-agnostic apps.  Generally, there are two ways to set up Little SIS Sync:

  • On a Windows Virtual Machine (VM): VM has the advantage of easy remote access, making the app more accessible across the district.  Based on our testing, Little SIS Sync Agent requires the VM to be set up with at least two cores.
  • On a physical Windows machine: Installing on a Windows machine is advantageous if you don’t have the capacity to set up VMs.
  • Additional Technical Requirements:
    • 2 core processor
    • 8 gigs of ram

Note: Given most district’s preferences, our current focus is on support for a Windows installer.  Currently, Little SIS Sync Agent is not packaged for Mac OS and Linux.

Domain requirements

Staff and students must be under the same Google Workspace admin console. Sub and secondary domains under the same Google Workspace instance are both fine. Separate Google Workspace domains are not currently supported.

Recommendations for installation user profile

Because Little SIS Sync Agent runs jobs on a schedule from an active application session, it requires a Windows user account that must remain perpetually logged in to the machine with an active user session. We recommend using a dedicated administrative role account for this purpose. Also, a Google Workspace super admin account is needed to authenticate Little SIS.

Note: If you have trouble authenticating, you may need to add Little SIS Sync to the trusted list of Apps as detailed here.
