Load and refresh data in Classroom Explorer

With Classroom Explorer you can generate a summary report for classes in your domain. The report includes all classes, not just those created in Little SIS Sync. You can download or export the XLS format report and explore its details. 

When you run the report, you will want it to have the most up-to-date information. So before you run the report, you will load the current class and user information. Let's get started.

Summary report information

The summary report includes the following columns:

Columns visible by default:

  • Course Name
  • Section
  • Teacher Email (class owner)
  • State
  • Little SIS Alias
  • # Teachers (includes co-teachers)
  • # on roster
  • # Course work
  • Guardians enabled (Y/N)
  • Last update date/time

Columns hidden by default:

  • Teacher Org Unit
  • Course ID
  • Created date/time

Loading class information

First, lets load class information like Course Name, Section, Teacher, and State:

  1. Navigate to the Google Classroom Overview in the Little SIS Sync Agent app. 
  2. Click the (three dots) menu at the top right. 3DotsMenu.svgLoadingDataMenuHL.svg
  3. Click Refresh All Google Classroom Classes.

Loading user information

Next, let's load user class information. This ensures all students and teachers are identifiable in Little SIS Sync via their Google Workspace email address.

  1. Click the (three dots) menu at the top right. 3DotsMenu.svg
  2. Click Refresh All Domain Users.

Refreshing class information

To make additional information, such as Little SIS Alias, Roster, Teachers, and Course Work available, Little SIS Sync must access what is potentially a large volume of data via Google's APIs. To improve performance, Little SIS Sync builds and updates a local cache with this information, and it only retrieves selected details for an intentionally-selected group of classes. 

  1. Select one or more classes in the list.
  2. Click (Refresh selected classes) at the top right. RefreshSelectedClasses.png
  3. In the Refresh details for # selected classes popup, select those data items you care about refreshing.

  4. Click Refresh Data. The relevant class details will load.

Viewing the details of the roster and coursework

  1. Once you have identified the class that you want to view, right-click on the class.
  2. Click View Class Info. The Course Information popup opens.

  3. After viewing, click Close to return to the Classroom Explorer. 

Hiding/Showing columns in the Classroom Explorer

  1. Click to Toggle open the column visibility control.VisibilityControl.png
  2. Deselect or select columns as necessary.
    Hidden columns have an X. Unhidden columns have a checkmark.
    Note: The number to the right of the visibility control indicates the number of hidden columns.
