With our transition to Browser Manifest v3, our Gopher Buddy browser extension now meets the latest industry standards, offering improved performance and heightened security. This upgrade prioritizes user privacy, resulting in a more dependable and resilient extension.
You do not need to reinstall the Gopher Buddy service in the Admin console. You need to remove the current extension and reinstall the new version.

Block/Delete the Current Extension from OUs
- In the Admin console, navigate to Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions.
- On the Overview tab, search for Gopher Buddy using the ID contains option and enter cgbbbjmgdpnifijconhamggjehlamcif. This is the ID of the current extension.
- Click Apply. The Installation policy column shows you all of the OUs with the extension installed.

You must click on each location and either block or delete the extension, or change the setting from locally applied to inherit from the root from the respective OUs (if applicable).
- Click on the OU in the Installation Policy column.
- Click on the Installation Policy for that OU.
- In the right panel, use the Delete icon or Blocked hosts fields.
- Repeat these steps for each OU.
Install Manifest V3 Version of Gopher Buddy
Once the old extension is has been blocked or deleted, you can now install the new version.
- In the Admin console, navigate to Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions.
- On the Users & Browsers tab, click Add and choose the 3rd option up, Add Chrome app or extension by ID.
- Copy and paste the extension ID becdplfalooflanipjoblcmpaekkbbhe. This is the ID of the Manifest V3 version.
- Leave the drop-down selection as From the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Save.
- Change the Installation policy drop-down to Force install or Force install + pin to browser toolbar.
- In the Allowed hosts field, add https://gopher-buddy-prod.appspot.com.
- Click Save.
You now have the new version, and your sessions will flow as always.
