Exporting logs from Chrome OS devices can be crucial for troubleshooting performance problems, crashes, or connectivity issues for managed devices. You must first enable data collection in the Google Admin console before you can export logs from the Device details page.
Recommendation
For best practices, we recommend configuring the Device system log upload option to Enable device system log upload domain-wide. This will give you the Export Logs option on the device details page in the Admin console.

Admin Console Setting - Device System Log Upload
Navigation Path:
Devices > Chrome > Settings ~ Device Settings ~ Device system log upload
Admins must first enable the device system log upload setting so that the devices' logs can be pulled through the Admin console. By default, this setting is disabled.
- Go to the Chrome settings, Device settings page.
- In the list of settings, click on Device system log upload.
- We recommend you select Enable device system log upload domain-wide. You can set this setting by OU.
- Click Save.
Now that data is being collected, you can export logs from managed devices.
Exporting Logs
Navigation Path:
Devices > Chrome > Devices ~ [select device]
- Go to the Chrome Devices page.
- Select a device to open the device details page.
- At the Device panel at the left, click Export Logs. A stepper opens.
- Select one option in Step 1: Provide support info. Depending on the option selected, you may need to enter additional information.
- Click Continue.
- Select one, many, or select all options in Step 2: Select diagnostic data. Here you are selecting the data to appear in the export log.
- Click Continue.
- Select one, many, or select all options in Step 3: Select personal data.
- Click Export Logs. The tasks popup appears at the top right of the page, showing you the task in progress.
