How to view video closed captions and transcripts
The ability to join the class as a co-teacher or student lets administrators gain better insights into the Classroom environment and better support the teachers and students. This article walks you through adding yourself as a co-teacher and a student. To add other users as a primary or co-teacher, see Editing primary and co-teachers.
Join a class as a co-teacher
- In the left menu, click Explorer. Google Classroom Explorer opens.
- Search for and select the classes you want to join.
- Click Teachers at the top left of the page.
- Click Join # selected classes as a co-teacher.

- Confirm classes you want to add yourself to by selecting the class again.
- Click Continue.
- By default co-teachers Limit time of access is set to Do not remove. Select a different time limit if necessary. Options include, For 1 hour, For one day, Until, and Do not remove which lets you choose a date and time access is to end.
- Click Continue.
- You can choose to notify the primary teacher that you have joined their class and customize the message.
- Click Continue.
- Review the changes that will be made.
- Click Proceed.
Join a class as a student
- In the left menu, click Explorer. Google Classroom Explorer opens.
- Search for and select the classes you want to join.
- Click Students at the top left of the page.
- Click Join # selected classes as a student-teacher. The Join classes stepper opens.

- Click Continue.
- You can choose to notify the primary teacher that you have joined their class and customize the message.
- Click Continue.
- Review the changes that will be made.
- Click Proceed.
