low performing, English language learners, or any other groups that need tracking Collections provides visibility into coursework and powering delegated users with the information needed to make decisions for students in the collection.

There is a permission that needs added to the role for collections to be used. The instructional coach, instructional supervisor, and the super admin will already have this permission automatically applied to them.

0:51
But for any other role, you'll need to edit the role and select the view student details permission checkbox, giving access to the student explorer as a whole, and then check the view and managed student collections permission to access collections.

1:08
Be sure to save. Once the permissions are granted in the left navigation, Student Explorer becomes a drop-down menu. Search, let you search and enter Student Explorer. Below that is Collections.

1:25
As a super admin, you can see all the collections that get created on your domain. You can come in and view, you can also use the collection ellipsis to either edit or delete a collection.

1:39
This is a super admin permission and cannot be delegated down. Deleting collections is good to keep in mind for some a rollover, or if a teacher leaves the district helping you keep collections clean.

1:53
Now let's create a collection by clicking the Add button. The stepper is the same no matter the user rule. Next select New Collection.

2:05
Give the collection a name in the description. The description is not mandatory, so keep that blank if you like. To add students, you have two different options.

2:16
You can paste the accounts or you can search and select them individually. When pasting, if you have a list of email addresses, just make sure each one is on a separate line.

2:30
Here, I'll paste in the email addresses and click validate. Let's say I forgot a student. You can switch to your add students method to enter accounts individually and add those students.

2:44
This works in reverse, too; if you started by searching and then found a list of students, you can pop back to paste an email.

3:03
Once you have all of your students, you can go ahead and click next and then confirm. Now that the collection is added, you can view it.

3:15
Any time you open a collection, it will be the most updated data for that student's classwork. You'll see this running ticker over here, give that a couple seconds to finish.

3:30
On this view, you're getting an aggregated summary for all the students that are in the collection. Let's say I want to see just a few students.

3:40
Select them and then right-click and select View Data for the selected students. Notice that the classwork summary changes to focus on just those students.

3:52
You can clear the filter up here or right-click and clear that applied filter. Now let's drill down to one student to see their classwork.

4:03
Right-click on the student and click View Students. And it pops us to the student explorer view for this student.

4:13
Going to the student's classwork, we see the title of their assignments and the state. Whether turned in or returned. We can also tell if the teacher has graded the assignment.

4:29
If a teacher or a parent were to call about this student, I can come in here and check on that for them.

4:35
From here, clicking the back button takes you back to the main collections page, and from here clicking back takes you to the list of collections.
