We are excited to announce a new feature that addresses a key customer need: the ability to see all Auto Update Expiration (AUE) extensions, eligible devices, and relevant dates when importing devices. This enhancement empowers our customers to take timely action on their devices and efficiently monitor their fleet.
Key Updates
To enhance your device management experience, we have added three new columns to the Hardware Details section for Gopher for Chrome. These columns also appear in the Gopher for Chrome Web app:
- Extended Support Eligible: Indicates whether a device is eligible for extended support.
- Extended Support Start: Displays the start date of the extended support period for eligible devices.
- Extended Support Enabled: Shows whether the extended support has been enabled for the device.
Gopher for Chrome Sheet

For the web app, you need to enable the new columns from the Columns panel.
With these additions, you can now easily track your devices' extended support status, ensuring you make informed decisions and maintain optimal device performance.
We are excited to announce the latest release of Gopher Buddy. Unlike previous updates, where differences were visible upon login, this new version requires a proactive step from your end. You must uninstall the current Gopher Buddy extension and install this latest update.
This change is due to our migration to Google's API, Manifest V3. By adopting this new method, we can better adapt to evolving technological landscapes and enhance the privacy and performance of our extension.
To facilitate this transition, we have prepared a guide outlining the steps to migrate to the latest version of Gopher for Gopher Buddy. You can access the guide by following this link to our Help Center: Updating to the newest version of Gopher Buddy.
What's the Same:
The software's core functionality remains unchanged. You can continue to rely on Gopher Buddy to deliver the same robust features and capabilities you've come to depend on. While we have implemented updates to streamline the application, such as colors and button names, these enhancements have been carefully designed to ensure a seamless user experience without altering the familiar functionality you know and trust.
What's Changed:
The transition from Manifest V2 to Manifest V3 signifies a fundamental shift in how our Google app operates behind the scenes. While these changes may not be directly perceptible in the user interface, they lay the foundation for future enhancements and innovations.
With this transition, our Gopher Buddy benefits from increased security measures, ensuring a safer browsing experience for our users. Additionally, Manifest V3 enables us to optimize our app's performance, leading to faster loading times and smoother user interactions.
Our dedicated support team is readily available to address any difficulties or inquiries you may have during the migration process. We're here to ensure a smooth and hassle-free transition for you.
We're thrilled to announce a quick fix for a sidebar display issue. In Gopher for Gmail, Gopher for Chrome, and Gopher for Users, the icons at the bottom of the sidebar were truncating the Help Center button. The sidebar is now back to normal, and the Help Center button is returned to full view.
Thank you for being so patient.
We're excited to introduce several enhancements to Device Search in the Web App, which will streamline your experience and provide more comprehensive information. Here's a breakdown of the latest changes:

Gopher for Chrome
This update addresses a bug where errors occur during device retrieval using the update from CSV option. When the serial number contained URI characters, the error message would either not display the serial number or encode special characters in the error message, preventing the display of the original string. With this fix, the error messages correctly reflect the original unencoded string containing the error. - When using the Update from CSV option, if the headers were in all caps, the data did not load, causing an undefined error. This behavior is corrected; devices now load when headers are in all caps.

This release adds the following message at the top of the page: Device has not been checked in yet, please try again later.

Previously, in the Gopher for Chrome Webb app, Device Cache the > 18 months option for Auto Update Expiry was the only option not selected by default. These options could cause confusion about whether Gopher for Chrome reports all devices. In this release, we've updated the Auto Update Expiry options to all default as selected, including > 18 months.
The Manage Device Cache option on the Utilities menu of Gopher for Chrome is renamed to Access Web App. The name change conveys that you are accessing the web app more clearly.
This release adds the Audit Log Events tab to the Device Info page in the Gopher for Chrome Web app. Events for the selected device from the past 30 days (max 100 events) show on the tab.
Reminder: You can access the web app from the Utilities or Reports tabs in Gopher for Chrome.

-
In the Gopher for Chrome Web App, search for and select a device to open the Device Info page.

Filtering the Device Cache by Device State and Auto Update Expiry
Gopher for Chrome > Web app> Device Cache
-
Two filters now appear at the right of the Device Cache page:
Device State and Auto Update Expiry. These filters control
the data that appears in all of the graphs on the page. As
you select and deselect filter criteria, all the graphs update
automatically. By default, the Device Status filter is All.
The default for the Auto Update Expiry filter (AUE) is only
>18 months deselected. Typically > 18 months will be
the largest group and the farthest from AUE.
- The Device State filter includes All, Active, Delinquent, Pre Provisioned, Deprovisioned, Disabled, Inactive, Return Arrived, Return Requested, Shipped, and Unknown. The list of states you see in the filter depend on your fleet.
- The Auto Update Expiry filter includes All, > 18 months, 12-18 months, 6-12 months, 3-6 months, and Expired. The list of Auto Update Expiry you see in the filter depend on your fleet.
-
Each filter criteria includes the total count of
devices at the right of that criteria. This total
is static; it does not change as filters change.
Note: The legacy number of devices cached and telemetry
data for cached devices at the top right of the page
are also static numbers; they do not change when
filters change.
-
Example: To see active devices that
have not expired, select only Active for Device State
and deselect Expired for Auto Update Expiry.
- See the Filtering the Device cache in the Web app article.
