The quick find and update feature makes looking up and updating a single device easy. This feature can be helpful when working through a stack of devices, during device distribution to students in a 1-to-1 program, or when inventorying a Chromebook cart.
You can navigate to this feature in two ways:
- From the Utilities tab
OR - From the Extensions menu
We recommend clearing the Devices tab at the beginning of a batch of single-device updates to keep track of all updates performed.
- Using the Search by drop-down, select how to search for a device; Serial Number, Annotated Asset ID, or Annotated User.
- Enter the search criteria.
- Click Search.
- To change status, click the Pencil icon, select from the Change device status to field, and then click Set New Status. The new status pushes to Google immediately.
- Updates any of the editable fields: Org Unit Path, User, Asset ID, Location, and Notes.
- Click PUSH UPDATE to commit changes.
Note: Device details are also visible in the quick find and update panel. Click Device Details to go to that tab.
