We are streamlining the Little SIS experience by removing the Roster/Teacher Changes report from the in-app Insights area. This feature is being sunset as its functionality is now fully and comprehensively covered by Google's Audit and Investigation tool within the Google Admin Console.
Why is this report being removed?
The Roster/Teacher Changes report historically provided a running tracker of user and co-teacher adds/drops in Google Classroom.
Google has significantly expanded its native logging capabilities. The Audit and Investigation tool in the Google Admin console, specifically the Classroom log events, offers a complete and detailed history of:
- All roster changes (student adds/drops).
- Teacher changes (co-teacher adds/drops).
- Full classroom usage activity.
This native Google tool negates the need for us to maintain and populate a separate report within Little SIS. This removal allows us to simplify our application and focus on our core provisioning and sync features.
Where can I find roster and teacher change history now?
You can access a comprehensive log of all Google Classroom roster and teacher changes directly in the Google Admin console using the Audit and Investigation tool.
How to Access the Data
- Navigate to your Google Admin console.
- Go to Reporting > Audit and investigation.
- Select the Classroom log events data source.
- Use the filter options to search for specific events or classroom activities.
What does this mean for Little SIS performance?
This update simplifies the process of managing membership changes in Little SIS.
By leveraging Google's definitive log and removing the need to track every event internally, we are making the application more efficient and faster. This change allows Little SIS to focus on its core tasks: ensuring users are correctly added or removed from classes and that your classes are refreshed efficiently.
