Turning on Windows data in the Intune tenant settings will allow Intune to collect more diagnostic data, telemetry, and hardware information. Once that is turned on, you must tell devices to send that data using a configuration setting. Below are the steps for both tasks.
Additional Windows Data in the Intune console:
- In the Intune console, click the Tenant Administration tab on the left.
- Click Connectors and Tokens.
- Click Windows Data.
- Turn the switch on for Windows Data. This will allow Intune to gather and store additional data for Reporting and Troubleshooting.
This is only half of the configuration, though. The devices must be told to send that data. See the next section for those steps.
Configure telemetry and Commercial Data Pipeline on devices:
- From the Intune console, click the Devices tab on the left.
- Click Configuration, then + Create, then + New Policy.
- For platform, select Windows 10 and later.
- For profile type, select Settings catalog, and then click Create.
- In the next window, give this policy a name and description and click Next.
- Click + Add settings, which will open up a new window where you can browse for settings or search at the top.
- Search for Telemetry, select System from the Browse by category list, and check the box next to Allow Telemetry.
- Now search for Commercial Data Pipeline, select System from the Browse by category list, and check the box next to Allow Commercial Data Pipeline.
- Close the settings picker with the X in the top right corner.
- Set the Commercial Data Pipeline toggle to ON.
Set the Allow Telemetry to Full.
Note: Assign scope tags on this page if you use this feature. Scope Tags are mainly organizational and purely optional in Intune.
- Click Next.
- Assign this policy to groups of devices or all devices(recommended).
- Click next.
- Review your settings/assignments and click Create to deploy this policy.
