Configuring System Time Zone and Date Format

The Time Zone & Date Format configuration is an essential administrative setting that standardizes how dates and times are displayed throughout Gopher for Chrome Premium. Establishing a singular, consistent format prevents user confusion, especially when analyzing time-sensitive data such as audit logs, event scheduling, and activity reports.

Location

To access these settings, navigate to:

  • Administration > Global Settings > Time Zone & Date Format

Configuration Fields

The settings page presents two primary configuration areas: Time zone and date format.

TIME ZONE

This setting determines the time offset used by all Gopher for Chrome Premium timestamps.

  • Select Time Zone: A drop-down list of global time zones (e.g., Pacific Time - US & Canada).

All recorded times (e.g., in the Audit Log, event creation) are converted and displayed according to the selected zone. This setting ensures accuracy relative to the administrator's operational time.

DATE FORMAT

This setting determines the display order of the day, month, and year components.

  • US format = MM/DD/YY - Displays the Month first, followed by the Day, and finally the Year.
    Example: 06/29/24 for June 29, 2024

  • Canadian format = YY/MM/DD - Displays the Year first, followed by the Month, and finally the Day.
    Example: 24/06/29 for June 29, 2024

Applying Changes

  1. Select your desired Time Zone from the drop-down menu.

  2. Select your preferred Date Format using the radio buttons.

  3. Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.

All changes are applied instantly and system-wide, affecting how all users view dates and times within Gopher for Chrome Premium.
