When you launch Gopher for Groups in a blank Google Sheet, you will see the Load Google Groups sidebar tab, which allows you to query and import groups to your sheet. These query options are useful for identifying groups that include a standard prefix or suffix in their naming structure, groups that may be at higher risk of settings changes, or groups that have large membership counts that could make them a risk.
The query filters available for loading groups to the sheet include: Group Email Address
Admin created
Direct members count
The Include advanced group analysis option looks for nested groups and provides additional risk filters. |
For domains with very large numbers of groups, limit the number of groups you attempt to load to the sheet. For much deeper querying power, native Sheets filters are the way to go. Click More Filters in the sidebar to learn more.
To load groups:
- From the sidebar Load to Google Groups tab, select query parameters using the Where and And drop-downs.
- (Optional) Check the Include advanced group membership analysis box to populate information to the Advanced membership analysis columns of the Sheet.
Note: Bear in mind that because this approach requires pulling the entire membership for each group that matches the query parameters in the sidebar, it can be quite slow on domains with very large numbers of groups. If performance issues arise, try limiting the number of groups using your sidebar-defined query.
- Click Load to Sheet. Groups load to a new tab, Group Settings.
