Using the Audit Log to Track Domain Activity

The Audit Log serves as the central record for actions performed within Gopher for Chrome Premium. This provides a transparent history of device changes and user activity, making it easier to investigate specific events or review how the tool is used across your organization.

Administrative Permissions

Visible data in the Audit Log is determined by your administrative role:

  • Super Admins: Can view all audit data for the entire domain.
  • Delegated Admins: Can only view data and actions related to the specific OUs or groups they are permitted to manage.

Accessing Audit Data

The Audit Log table provides a transparent view of all system activities, organized into the following columns to help you identify specific events at a glance:

  • Date and Time: Displays how long ago the action occurred, providing a chronological timeline of events. Hover on the time to show the full date/timestamp.
  • User: Identifies the specific individual or system process that initiated the action. Hover on a user to show their profile card, containing their name, role, and contact information.
  • Category: Group actions by functional area, such as Device Management or Authentication.
  • Job Type: Specifies the task type, such as Standard or NA for non-job events, such as logins. Details for Standard jobs open in the Audit Log Detail page. Details for NA jobs display in a side panel.
  • Action: Describes the exact event that took place, such as an In-Cell Device Edit, User Login, or Bulk Device Edit.
  • View Details: Features an eyeball icon that lets you dive deeper into the details of any individual entry. Details for Standard jobs open in the Audit Log Detail page. Details for NA jobs display in a side panel.

Viewing Event Details

For more granular information, click the eye icon in the View Details column for any log entry:

  • For Jobs: You will be directed to a summary page listing every device or user acted upon during that job.
  • For Non-Jobs (e.g., Logins, Policy Changes): A side panel will open, displaying specific data, such as changed permissions or updated Organizational Unit (OU) paths.
  • Empty Details: If no additional metadata exists for an event, the side sheet will display: No additional detail available.
  • Last Checked: Hover over an item in this column to view the time/date stamp.
