The Device Search page includes a powerful Bulk Edit tool designed for efficiency. This feature is the best choice when you need to apply the exact same change to a large group of devices at once.
If you need to assign unique information to each individual device (such as different Asset IDs for ten different machines), please use our In-Cell Editing Tool.
When to Use Bulk Updates
- Uniform Department Moves: Move numerous devices to the same new OU Path simultaneously.
- Standardized Labeling: Update a group of devices to share the same Annotated Location or Notes (e.g., Summer 2026 Refresh).
- User Assignments: Assign multiple devices to the same Annotated User in a single action.
Which Fields Are Editable?
When using the Edit device info bulk actions, you can modify the following fields:
- Annotated Asset ID: The asset identifier as noted by an administrator or specified during enrollment. Maximum length is 200 characters. Can be empty.
- Annotated User: The user of the device, as noted by the administrator. Maximum length is 100 characters. It can be empty.
- Annotated Location: The address or location of the device as noted by the administrator. Maximum length is 200 characters. It can be empty.
- OU path: This field lets you move the device by changing the OU.
-
Notes: This field lets you record your actions—for example, the OU previous OU and the reason for moving a device. Maximum length is 500 characters. Empty values are allowed.
- Because you can update multiple devices at once, the available space in the Notes field depends on which Update Method you choose:
- Replace: You have the full 500 characters available to write a new note.
- Append / Prepend: You can enter up to 500 characters minus the length of the longest existing note among your selected devices.
- Because you can update multiple devices at once, the available space in the Notes field depends on which Update Method you choose:

Important Considerations
- Identical Values: Every device selected will receive the exact same information for the fields you modify.
- System Integrity: Just as with in-cell editing, system-generated data cannot be bulk-edited, as it is reported directly by the hardware.
