Bulk Deprovisioning Devices

The Chrome device license policy governs device de-provisioning and management license reuse.

Deprovisioning a Chrome device removes it from management. It is intended for devices that are no longer active, that are being resold, or that are being submitted for return/repair. Once a device is deprovisioned, the device must also be wiped before it can be re-enrolled.

Warning: Re-enrollment is a manual-only process, deprovisioning cannot be undone so be careful!!

Before you get started, we highly recommend loading devices to the sheet via a List of IDs. You can select to load from a list of pasted Serial numbers or Asset IDs. This way, you can ensure you're working only with the devices you wish to deprovision.

  1. Once the devices are loaded (via Admin console or list), click the Push Updates to Google tab of the sidebar.
  2. Click Deprovision to kick off the stepper.
  3. Check the I understand... checkbox.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select a deprovision reason; Same model replacement, Different model replacement, or Retiring device.
  6. Click Next
  7. Review the number of devices to be deprovisioned.
  9. To confirm you want to deprovision these devices, click GO AHEAD. Your sheet updates to show the deprovision action.
  10. Click Done to close the stepper.
