Chrome Version Scorecard

When you open this report, you immediately see a set of scorecard gauges. These cards categorize your entire fleet (while respecting the current OU filter) into four clear sections, allowing you to understand device health at a glance.

Devices are grouped into four distinct categories based on their proximity to the current stable release. Each category shows the percentage of the total fleet and the device count.

  • Latest (Green): Devices running the most current major version.

  • Up to 2 Versions Behind (Yellow): Devices within a safe but trailing window.

  • More than 2 Versions Behind (Red): Devices requiring immediate update intervention.

  • Unknown (Gray): Devices where version reporting is unavailable.

Drilling Down into the Data

Below the scorecards, a detailed table lets you drill down to see within OUs and sub-OUs exactly how many devices run specific Chrome versions.

The table organizes data using the following columns:

  • Major Chrome Version: The list categorizes listed Chrome versions using the same color codes from the scorecards (Green, Yellow, Red, Gray).
    • OU Path & Sub-OUs: Shows the full path of the OU where the devices reside. You can expand any OU to display its sub-OUs and their device counts, so you can see precisely where devices with older Chrome versions reside.
  • Number of Active Devices in the Major Chrome Version: Displays the count of active devices for that version within the specific OU.
  • Version Release Date: Provides the date Google released that version, giving you context on its age.

Scope and Data Parameters

The report is designed with a hierarchical structure to reflect complex organizational environments:

  • Organizational Hierarchy: Data is organized by OU path. Expanding a parent OU reveals its nested sub-OUs.
  • Data Aggregation: The device counts shown at the parent OU level include all devices within its nested sub-OUs.
  • Dynamic Filtering: Changing the OU via the picker dynamically updates the gauges and the data table.

Sorting the Data

You can quickly identify the oldest devices by sorting the table based on the update status:

  • Click a column heading to sort.
    • Clicking the heading repeatedly toggles the sort order (ascending/descending). For example, to prioritize the oldest devices, sort the Major Chrome Version column until the Red and Yellow categories float to the top of the list.
  • Expand the OUs in the Organizational Unit Path to see counts for specific Sub OUs.
