Working With Saved Layouts

Saved Layouts allow you to customize your data view by selecting which columns to include in the Classroom Explorer. Tailor your view to match your specific preferences and analysis needs. Before creating any custom layouts, you can use the automatically included core layouts. Create multiple personalized views for different use cases and share those layouts. For all layouts, core and custom, you can seamlessly switch between layouts.

Here's what the Saved Layouts panel looks like in Classroom Explorer:

What you'll learn:

In this article, you'll learn how to do the following in the Saved Layouts panel:

View Existing Layouts

  1. In Explorer, click on Saved Layouts at the top left of the Explorer.
  2. Click on a layout to open it in the Explorer.
    Note: Those that are starred, are Core or preconfigured layouts.
  3. When finished, select another layout or click reset state ResetState.png at the bottom of the panel to return the Explorer to the original view.

The Saved Layouts panel comes with core or preconfigured layouts:

  • High level stats: Compares teachers and classes based on the student count, classwork count, and announcement count for each class. This layout shows Teacher Email, Classroom name, Alias count, Section, Guardians Enabled?, Teacher Count, Student Count, Classwork count, and Most recent activity.
  • Teachers: This layout shows Teacher Email, Classroom name, Section, State, Alias count, School, Teacher Name, Teacher Count, Teachers, Teacher OUs, Most recent activity, and Created.
  • Students: This layout shows Teacher Email, Classroom name, Section, State, Alias count, School,  Guardians Enabled, Student Count, and Student OUs.
  • Classwork: This layout shows Teacher Email, Classroom name, State, Alias count, Section, Classwork count, Most recent classwork, and Most recent activity.
  • General: This layout shows Teacher Email, Classroom name, State, Alias count, Section, Guardians Enabled?, Teacher Name, Teacher Count, Student Count, Classwork count, Most recent classwork, and Most recent activity.
  • All columns: This layout has all available columns set to show/visible.

Add a New Layout

  1. In Explorer, click on Columns at the top left of the Explorer.
  2. Hide or show columns by unchecking or checking checkboxes.
  3. Click Saved Layouts at the top left of the page to open the panel.
  4. Click the + at the bottom of the panel to add this new saved layout.
  5. Enter a label for the layout.

  6. Click Confirm.

Update a Layout

  1. In Explorer, click on Saved Layouts at the top left of the Explorer.
  2. Click on a layout to open it in the Explorer.
  3. Click on Columns at the top left of the Explorer.
  4. Hide or show columns by unchecking or checking checkboxes.
  5. Click Saved Layouts to return to the layout.
  6. Click Update current layout UpdateLayout.png at the bottom of the panel.

Share a Layout

  1. In Explorer, click on Saved Layouts at the top left of the Explorer.
  2. Click on a layout to open it in the Explorer.
  3. Click Share current saved layout ShareLayout.png at the bottom of the panel.

    The sharedLayouticon.png icon indicates a shared layout.

Clear or Reseat the State of the Layout

To return the Explorer to the original view., Click reset state ResetState.png at the bottom of the panel.

Filter the List of Saved Layouts

Filtering provides a quick and easy way to view a cross-section of the saved layouts.

  1. In Explorer, click on Saved Layouts at the top left of the Explorer.
  2. Click Filter saved layouts at the top right of the panel.

  3. Select an option:
    • All Layouts: Default
    • Core Layouts: prepopulated layouts
    • My Layouts: Layouts you created
    • Shared Layouts: Layouts shared with you
