Getting Started With Collections

Student Collections is a permission-based feature, meaning delegated users can view and manage collections only after an administrator explicitly grants them access. You have full control over this rollout; rather than enabling it for everyone, you can simply assign permissions to the specific roles that require access within Little SIS for Classroom.

Note: When a delegated user enters their My Collections space for the first time, it will appear empty. Their first Collection card will only populate once they manually create or add a collection to their view.

Student Collections Permissions

When you are ready to grant access: 

  1. In Little SIS for Classroom, navigate to Administration> Users > Roles.
  2. Select an existing role (Rt-click > Edit) 
    OR
    Click Add a role at the top left. Here, you need to enter a Role Name and Description (optional).
  3. In the Students block, if not already enabled, check the View student details checkbox.
  4. In the Students block, check the View and Manage Collections checkbox.

  5. Click Confirm.
  6. Let your delegated users know what collections are and that they now have access to them.  

After that, users assigned to that role will have everything they need to build their collections. 

Accessing Collections

To access Collections:

  • Navigate to Student explorer > Collections from the menu on the left side of the screen.

When collections open, delegated users will see My Collections. Super Admins see My Collections, and  Classroom Admins see Collections. Super Admins see collections created by other Super Admins and delegated users below My Collections and Classroom Admins' Collections.
