Pivot from Roster to Student View

In this article, we'll explore navigation. More specifically, how to navigate to switch between the student view and the roster view. When viewing a roster, you may want to view specific student information. Pivoting between these two views lets you quickly access the student information you need. You can pivot between views from both Explorer and Student Explorer. Let's look at how to do it.

Pivoting From Roster to Student View Using Explorer

To pivot from roster to student view, you will start in Explorer:

1. In the Little SIS left navigation, click Explorer.
2. Right-click over a class, then click View class details.
3. Click on the Roster tab. This is the roster view.
4. Right-click over a student.
5. Click View student. A Student explorer tab opens, behind the class view modal, for that student. 
   
6. The overlay stays open. Repeat these steps for each student you want to view.
7. Click Close to close the class view modal. You’ll return to Explorer. There is a tab at the top for each student you selected for viewing.
8. Click a student tab to view details. This is the student view.
9. When finished viewing, click X (Close) to close the student tab.

Pivoting From Student to Roster View Using Student Explorer

To pivot from student to roster view, you will start in Student Explorer:

1. In the Little SIS left menu, click Student Explorer and then Search, or if you have Explorer open, click New student search at the top left. 
   
2. Search for and select a student. Explorer opens to the student view.
3. Access class information:
   • If you know the teacher, click Teachers and then Enrolled Classrooms.
   • If you don't know the teacher, click Classroom in the collapsible panel at the left.
4. Right-click over a class.
5. Click View Class details.
6. Click on the Roster Tab. This is the roster view.
